Record 2m passengers on Fenchurch Sreet c2c trains during Olympics

Passenger demand broke records for train operators on the Fenchurch Street-Southend line during the Olympics with almost two million journeys over 17 days.

Figures released today show 1.96m journeys were made on c2c trains during the Games.

These included an estimated 425,000 spectators, more than a fifth of all c2c passengers, most heading to and from West Ham, one of the main venue stations for the Olympics Park.

The company even managed to break its own 97.1 per cent national punctuality record with 98.8 per cent trains on time, according to rail industry statistics.
