COMPANY bosses in the waste and recycling industry are being invited to a 'safety' event in East London to help reduce death and injury at work.

Inspectors from the Health & Safety Executive are planning visits to recycling plants and skip hire companies over the next nine months.

These will follow safety events they're running for industry leaders to provide advice and information to firms as part of a national campaign to reduce deaths and injury.

The industry has nine times more fatal accidents than the national average, according to the HSE, with four times as many workers than average getting injured.

The three-hour event for East London has been organised at Bywater's recycling plant at Lea Riverside, in Twelvetrees Crescent, Bromley-by-Bow, at 8.30am on Monday (January 25).

The HSE is inviting managers from skip hire firms and commercial waste-recycling companies who are responsible for drivers, site operators or pedestrian areas to contact them by email here to attend.
