PEOPLE at an East End block of flats were left without cold water for a week leaving residents unable to flush their toilets and shower.

Addul Subhan, owner of Caf Bangla in Brick Lane, who lives with his wife and four grown-up children at the block in Hanbury Street, said he was initially told by Tower Hamlets Homes they could not solve the issue with his water supply because he is a leaseholder. Residents at the block are a mixture of tenants and leaseholders.

Mr Subhan said: "What am I suppose to do? It's a nightmare. We have to use a bucket to flush the toilet. The water is too hot to shower because you can't mix it with cold.

"We have to go to other people's places to shower which is particularly difficult for my daughters who as women don't feel comfortable showering at other people's places."

The cold water was restored last Saturday, he said, after the Advertiser made enquiries.
