Sir John Cass Secondary School and Old Ford and Seven Mills primary schools, appear on the list as outstanding schools that have applied.
Mulberry School for Girls appears on the list as a non-outstanding school which wants to become an academy.
Academy schools are run by a charitable company which has control over the land and other assets.
It has a strategic role in running the academy, but delegates day-to-day management of the school to the governors.
Academies are independent schools and not maintained by the local authority.
