Mulberry School for Girls appears on the list as a non-outstanding school which wants to become an academy.

Academy schools are run by a charitable company which has control over the land and other assets.

It has a strategic role in running the academy, but delegates day-to-day management of the school to the governors.

Academies are independent schools and not maintained by the local authority.
