VOLUNTEERS are up the creek on Sunday—without a paddle.
They are turning up for East London’s Big Tidy Up’ at Bow Creek, joined by Lee Valley Regional Park staff, to spruce up the riverbanks between Blackwall and Canning Town along the S-bend where the Lea tributary joins the Thames.
It is part of a national drive by the Keep Britain Tidy campaign where volunteers can just turn up, roll up their sleeves and get cracking—refreshments provided. They meet at Canning Town Jubilee Line-DLR station at 10am Sunday (March 7).
There are always jobs to be done to improve the riverbanks next to Bow Creek Ecology Park, part of the Lee Valley Regional Park that stretches for 26 miles from the Thames to Ware in Hertfordshire.
