A MUGGGER tore a necklace from a young woman's neck as she walked alone in Bethnal Green on Saturday evening.

The 18-year-old was approached by a man who snatched the chain from her as she walked along Three Colts Lane around 8.20pm. He then ran off along Corfield Street.

The suspect is described black, aged 30-40, around 5ft 10ins and of thin build. He was wearing a dark denim jacket, dark jeans and a beige baseball cap.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Det Con Michael Herrick in the robbery squad on 020 8217 4162 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
