Peter Southcott thanks Leyton Orient and Howard Gould for giving Beckton-based club 55 free tickets
Peter Southcott of Royal Falcons has thanked Leyton Orient and Community Liaison Officer Howard Gould following Saturday’s match with Morecambe.
The Beckton-based youth team had 50 of their youngster in attendance at Brisbane Road for the League Two clash.
For many it was the first time they had been to watch a football fixture live and Southcott was full of praise for the east London club.
He is manager of the under-nine team and children ranging from six to 10 watched the O’s win 1-0 at the weekend.
Southcott said: “On Saturday my team Royal Falcons were able to watch Leyton Orient play Morecambe at Brisbane Road.
“This was made possible by the generosity of the club and its community team. I would like to publicly thank them for this as the majority of the children had never been to a live football match before.”
The Falcons manager revealed just how they were able to obtain tickets for the league fixture with the Shrimps.
He thanked Gould for helping arrange the day and highlighted the great work being done by Orient’s Community Liaison Officer.
“As part of our clubs aim to become FA Charter Standard recognised, we approached several local teams to see what they could give us in terms of freebies,” said Southcott.
“We wanted to allow some of our local boys to see a football match for the first time and Howard of the Leyton Orient community team gave us 50 children tickets and five adult ones for the Morecambe match.”
Royal Falcons hope to return to Brisbane Road soon and Southcott, who has been at the Beckton club for 24 years, revealed further news.
He added: “We have put ourselves forward for more free tickets and have also requested that we join Orient’s 50/50 Community Ticket scheme.
“That lets us sell tickets and keep 50 per cent of the cost. Hopefully we can go back again soon.”
