One of the Royal Navy’s leading warships arrived on the Thames to demonstrate war simulations and disaster relief.

The 430ft HMS Kent moored at the Millwall Docks for its second visit to London this year. The last time was in May ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Jutland.

Guests on board are having a taste of what it is capable of — such as ‘defence diplomacy’ and maritime security operations.

“This is another brief but busy stop for us,” Commander Daniel Thomas said. “We are demonstrating how the Royal Navy delivers the diverse range of tasks that are asked of it.”

The Portsmouth-based Type 23 frigate, which arrived on Thursday for its five-day visit, weighs anchor next Tuesday.
