RUBBISH collections are back on track after disruptions caused by the snowfall just before Christmas.
Both residential homes and commercial properties across Tower Hamlets experienced backlogs, which the council said were solely down to the bad weather.
Contractors Veolia made sure that every home and business had a collection at least once a week, even if this was later than expected.
The only days contractors didn’t work was Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
A Tower Hamlets spokesperson said: “There were some issues relating to the snow and ice but the contractors have managed to get back on track now.
“They didn’t go out when it was deemed to be unsafe but made sure all properties were seen within a week.”
Local Government Minister Bob Neill wrote to all local authorities at the start of the year to remind them that rubbish collection was a “right, not a favour”.
