Fans of all musical genres will find something to get excited about as London Remixed Festival returns on Friday.

The two day event, held across four stages at Bethnal Green’s Rich Mix, spans everything from ghetto funk to Latin breaks, electro-blues and drum and bass – plus everything in between.

Moving from room to room needn’t mean missing out on the music as the festival comes complete with a “disco lift” comprising a DJ and disco ball.

Chart-topping trio Sam and the Womp, responsible for 2012’s runaway hit Bom Bom, are set to headline the festival on Saturday .

Performing alongside a live band, the group will play their new single Zeppelin live for the first time in the Polka Club.

Sam Ritchie, the group’s trumpeter, said: “For us, it’s all about performing as that is what we’ve grown out of.

“We’re quite different from a lot of other pop acts who just perform with a backing track but as a musician – and a trumpeter – you want to play with others to make that big brass sound.

“We have a big band booked with lots of brass instruments and bass so it’s going to be a fun night.”

And the group are determined to get you up and on your feet.

“If you’re not moving to us, I’ll point you out if I can see you,” Sam joked. “We play music to make people dance – I end up dancing as well when I’m playing, it’s impossible not to.”

Other top names on the bill include the London Afrobeat Collective, ODJBOX and The Brass Funkeys, while Friday night will see John Fairhurst and Reverend Rockwell take to the stage together for a unique live collaboration.

“London itself is remixed as it is such a melting pot of different cultures,” Christophe Boronad, music manager of promoter Continental Drifts explained.

“We apply that to the music and the different genres at the festival. We really try to give a taste of the flavours with as many different genres as possible.”

As the festival is connected to Continental Drift’s Global Local project, which receives funding from the Arts Council to develop emerging acts, there’s also a chance to get yourself noticed by music industry bigwigs.

Drop-in panel discussions and seminars on Friday afternoon will include advice on mix techniques, funding and developing through social media.

A free speed dating event held later the same day will enable bands and producers to meet up and discuss ideas and future collaborations.

“We’ve had some really great successes over the years as we’ve had people meet, get together and collobarate,” Christophe added.

Tickets cost from £7 for a Friday day ticket to £20 for a weekend ticket. Visit londonremixedfestival.com to book.
