A MAJOR public consultation gets under way next week into the final phases of one of East London's biggest landmark regeneration schemes for 1,000 new homes next to the A12 Blackwall Tunnel Approach.
Half the homers on the former St Andrew's Hospital site at Bromley-by-Bow, less than a mile from the 2012 Olympics stadium, are earmarked as 'social' housing to help reduce Tower Hamlets' massive 33,000 waiting list.
A new health centre and public open space is included in the development less than a mile from the 2012 Olympics site now under construction.
A series of public exhibitions about the St Andrew's development kicks off on Tuesday (February 23) at the Marner Centre in Devas Street, 6pm to 9pm, on Wednesday at the nearby Bromley-by-Bow centre in St Leonard's Street, 6-9pm, and on Saturday (Feb-27) back at the Marner centre 10am-2pm.
The Homes and Communities Agency is behind the rejuvenation, which includes a mix of flats for smaller households and larger family accommodation, being undertaken by Barratt Homes, with funding from the London Development Agency.
