A YEAR 7 pupil is fighting for her life in hospital after falling six flights of stairs at her school.

Ambulances were called to Raine’s Foundation School in Approach Road at 11.45am today (Wednesday) after they received reports that a girl had fallen down an internal stairwell. The Advertiser understands the girl fell over a bannister to the ground floor, onto her head.

She was treated at the scene by doctors and paramedics and was taken by ambulance to Whitechapel’s Royal London Hospital in a serious condition.

Her parents have been informed. Staff at the school declined to comment when contacted by the Advertiser.

A statement from Tower Hamlets council said: “The council is providing support to the pupils and teachers at the school and our thoughts are with the pupil and her parents at this time.”
