Police and hospital staff are appealing for the mother of a newborn baby found in a park in east London to come forward so that she can get medical care and help.
The baby boy was found abandoned this morning in Plaistow Park close to Balaam Street.
Officers and ambulance paramedics answering a call from a passer-by carefully wrapped him in a white blanket and took him to hospital where he is being cared for.
The child who was spotted in the park at 8.20am has been called Harry by medical staff.
But there are fears for the mother who may be in urgent need of medical care.
“We are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare,” Chief Insp Jim Foley said.
“I would urge her to make contact with us or her local hospital or GP surgery. It is really important that we know she is safe.”
Police are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of the woman or has information that could help reunite little Harry with his mum to dial 020 8217 6498, or 101.
