A sex killer who tried to emulate Jack the Ripper is set to die behind bars after being jailed for at least 30 years today (mon) for the murders of two young mothers.
Convicted rapist Derek Brown lured the women from Whitechapel to his south London flat, where he killed and dismembered them before dumping their bodies.
The remains of Chinese DVD seller Xiao Mei Guo, 29, and 24 year-old prostitute Bonnie Barrett, who disappeared within three weeks of each other, have never been discovered.
Detectives believe he has raped at least six women and sexually assaulted another half a dozen.
He is also being linked to a 'historic' unsolved murder in the north of England and police believe he would have killed again.
Brown's small one-bedroom flat was covered in their blood, despite his repeated efforts to cover his tracks.
The loner was also caught on CCTV in the east end, where the Ripper butchered five women in 1888, when both women vanished.
Police discovered Brown had been reading up on some of Britain's most notorious serial killers just weeks earlier and even made the sickening boast to a friend: 'You will hear of me.'
Brown, a delivery driver, was convicted of both murders by an Old Bailey jury after less than three hours deliberation.
Judge Martin Stephens QC gave Brown two life sentences and ordered he serve a minimum of 30 years before he can be considered for parole.
Brown, of Albion Street, Rotherhithe London, had denied two counts of murder between August 29 and October 6 last year.
