Budding inventors at a secondary school created an ID bracelet that allows pupils to share information about themselves with schoolmates.
Students at the Mulberry School for Girls designed the “ConnectED” bracelet with help from technology experts at a two-day learning event called Education Hackday, run by the charity London Knowledge Lab.
The school in Commercial Road, Shadwell, was one of six schools taking part from across the capital on November 16-17.
The pupils wanted to replace their regular ID cards with the bracelets, which work by feeding information from a chip to an internal school website. Pupils are able to leave messages– such as requests for help with schoolwork – that can be seen by other students.
Teacher Lisa Thompson said: “This project reflects the changing world of education and we are delighted to have been able to give our students a chance to learn programming skills, igniting their interest in technology and computing that they will take with them after they leave Mulberry.”
