SHERLOCK HOLMES was away from his Baker Street address this week solving mysteries on the Thames.

Scenes for a new film about the Victorian super sleuth directed by Mockney Geezer’ Guy Ritchie were being shot on the river at Wapping last Friday (November 7).

The pipe-smoking, violin-playing private detective is being played by American Robert Downey Jr, with his sidekick Dr Watson portrayed by Jude Law.

Film crews hurriedly set up cameras on the foreshore while the tide was low to shoot a boat scene on the water near the ancient Town of Ramsgate pub.

Scenes are also being filmed in the City’s Freemasons’ Hall where Ritchie held a press conference last month.

The Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director was going full steam ahead on the Thames to make this latest film about Holmes a true representation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories.

Rachel McAdams, Kelly Reilly and Mark Strong are also confirmed to be in the film, which is Ritchie’s biggest budget movie to date and is set for release in 2010.
