Shoppers got a spicy taste from around the world when they popped into their local supermarket in London’s East End this week.

They were treated to spicy sauces, Halal salami, poppadums, Asian sweet treats, exotic fruit juices and Polish cuisine at Tesco’s new Metro in Whitechapel. A second tasting evening is planned next week.

The store opened its doors for the first time on June 18 when the director of the nearby Whitechapel Mission shelter, Tony Miller, was handed a £1,000 donation.
