Christmas came early for patients at Mildmay Hospital in Shoreditch after staff and volunteers popped on their red Santa suits for the Do-It-For-Charity run.

Mildmay’s team raised funds to support the work caring for people living with HIV when they joined 3,000 other fundraising Santas in Greenwich Park, braving the cold on a bright and frosty morning.

Mildmay fundraising manager Kerry Reeves Kneip handed out some well-deserved mulled wine and mince pies to the team after their gruelling winter run.

The money they raised is helping keep services ticking over at Christmas at Europe’s only centre dedicated to rehabilitation for people with HIV-associated Neurocognitive Disorder, which is similar to dementia. Some patients arrive in need of 24-hour care.
