SMOKERS wanting to kick-start the New Year by ditching their cigarettes are being given a helping hand with a free Quit Kit.
With the latest research showing that nearly half of smokers in the UK have resolved to quit this year, NHS bosses have come up with a special kit to help them do it.
The Quit Kit contains calming audio downloads, a stress toy, a tool to help them work out how much money they are saving by quitting and a wall chart to mark their progress over a month.
The Department of Health will be launching the kits in a series of adverts and has also created a powerful advertising campaign to run alongside it, aimed at showing smokers how their addiction affects their loved ones.
The adverts will feature real children of smokers singing the song "I'd do anything" from the musical Oliver, illustrating they would do anything to help stop their parents smoking.
