A vibrant celebration of Somali culture is set to kick off tomorrow (Friday, October 19) as part of the Black History Month festival.

Somali Week Festival 2012 has been designed to showcase the best of Somalia, which is located in the Horn of Africa and is bordered by Ethiopia, and events will feature poetry and literature readings, drama, and panel discussions in Tower Hamlets.

The festival, which runs until October 28, will be based on the theme of “courage” and is being hosted by Kayd, an organisation that promotes Somali art and culture.

The event will be launched tomorrow by writer and poet Said Saleh and MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, Rushanara Ali, at Oxford House in Derbyshire Street, Bethnal Green, at 6pm.
