THE youngest son of a 100-year-old woman found stabbed to death in her home on Wednesday has been charged with her murder.
Unemployed Michael James Fitzgibbon, 61, appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court this morning charged with the murder of centenarian Hannah Fitzgibbon at their bungalow in Hainton Close, Shadwell.
Mr Fitzgibbon, who visibly shook throughout this morning's five minute hearing and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth, is believed to have been his mother's carer.
Police were called to the house off Commercial Road at 9.45am on Wednesday and found Mrs Fitzgibbon with a single stab wound to her neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
