National League: Torquay United 3 Leyton Orient 0

Leyton Orient fell to another poor defeat in the National League with Torquay United defeating the east Londoners 3-0 this season.

Interim head coach Ross Embleton was looking to build on a two-match unbeaten run, but it proved to be a day to forget in Plainmoor.

The Gulls took the lead in the 16th minute when Josh McQuoid finished past Charlie Grainger after a Ruairi Keating cross.

Orient pressed for an equaliser and saw a Matt Harrold header saved, but it was 2-0 on the half an hour mark.

Luke Young fired into the bottom corner to ensure it would be a huge uphill task for the O’s.

Embleton made a double change at the break with Sam Sargeant and Rommy Boco coming on for Grainger and Zain Westbrooke.

Grainger had received an injury towards the end of the first half, but it failed to alter the tide of the match.

Torquay grabbed their third in the 47th minute when Jamie Reid beat Sargeant with Orient all at sea.

And to compound their poor afternoon, Jake Caprice saw red in the 86th minute for a reckless tackle on Damon Lathrope.

The O’s remain 20th in the table and three points out of the bottom four thanks to Chester’s 3-0 loss at home to Dagenham & Redbridge earlier in the day.

Leyton Orient: Grainger (Sargeant 46); Caprice, N’Gala, Happe, Widdowson; McAnuff, Clay, Westbrooke (Boco 46), Dayton, Koroma (Sotiriou 63); Harrold.

Unused substitutes: Mooney, Ellis.

Attendance: 1,913 (316 Leyton Orient supporters).
