Canary Wharf’s East Wintergarden went international for this year’s Tower Hamlets Council Speaker’s charity ball when Bolly Flex dance company filled the stage with music and movement.
The troupe founded by east London dance king Naz Choudhury helped Cllr Abdul Mukit make Monday’s glitzy extravaganza a loud night to remember.
Cllr Mukit was joined by civic mayors from other London boroughs, as well as councillors and the Canary Wharf business community, with 300 revellers filling the venue.
Two charities are in line for the cash from this year’s £50,000 Appeal target, Tower Hamlets ‘Mind’ mental health and St Hilda’s Surjamuki Disabled Youth project for youngsters with learning and physical disabilities.
The annual Speaker’s Ball—which used to be called the Mayor’s Ball before Tower Hamlets elected a separate executive mayor—raises thousands for charity, bringing business and community together once a year for good causes.
