An eco-friendly market which has been touring Britain since 2007 is making its London debut in the East End.

The Keen Green and Ethical Trade Market is being set up in the Old Spitalfields Market as its twice-weekly home all next month.

Stalls will be out every Tuesday and Wednesday selling ethically-traded arts, crafts, clothing, jewellery and home furnishings from around the world—alongside home-made organic, traceable, free range food and drink—throughout March.

Shoppers will find hand-crafted products from Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal, India, and South America, mostly in wood, stone and textiles.

But East End crafts also get a look-in because of the ethical trade market’s ‘local’ element wherever it travels.

Organiser Paul Kennedy from Market Square Group explained: “Each region has something different to offer that we want reflected in our market stalls.

“Fair trade, after all, starts at home—despite the international focus on developing countries.”

Live music, craft demonstrations, energy saving inventions and eco-friendly schemes are also planned.
