SPURS star Jermaine Jenas is meeting kids in London’s East End and getting them to shoot hoops, score goals and learn skateboarding tricks at a sports jam’ in the park.

The England and Tottenham player is highlighting the benefits of physical activity and hopes to inspire children to take up sport.

The three-hour jam’ on Sunday week (Oct 4), is organised by Access Sport and Tower Hamlets Council to encourage kids between six and 16 to get involved in different sports.

It is part of the council’s fitness’ programme as one of the five 2012 Olympics host’ boroughs to get East End youngsters to take up more physical activities.

Sports clubs and organisations are also taking part, including Shoreditch Sharks Rugby, Tower Hamlets Cycling, Britannia Youth Netball, Lansbury Boxing, Tower Hamlets Judo, Mile End Skateboarding, Tower Hamlets Trojans Basketball, Isis Volleyball, Laburnum Boat, Millwall Rugby, Hackney Girls’ Basketball and Hackney White Heat Basketball.

The free event is being staged on Wennington Green in Mile End Park, on the corner of Roman Road and Grove Road, from 12-noon to 4pm on October 4.
