Stepney care home staff take to streets in fund-raiser
STAFF at a care home in Stepney, London donned 50s attire and pounded the streets recently for a charity close to their hearts.
The team at Hawthorn Green Care Home in Redmans Road which provides specialist nursing, dementia and respite care for older people took part in the London Memory Walk at the Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park in Lambeth. The event is part of the national Memory Walk, the Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest fundraising event of the year.
Manager Sally Kalaiarasu, client relations manager Camilla Robinson, activities leader Elaine Robertson and administrator Hayley McSweeney were joined by colleague Lisa Strevens, deputy manager of Sanctuary Care’s Hatfield Care Home in Hertfordshire for the event.
The team completed Sunday’s 10-mile course in two hours and 45 minutes, helping to raise more than 600 for the Alzheimer’s Society, an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people with dementia.
Ms Robinson said: “The walk really motivated us, as a care provider at the heart of a local community to raise as much money as possible for such a worthy cause.
