The O’s four-match unbeaten run came to a crashing end, as they struggled throughout at Meadow Park

Steve Davis admitted Leyton Orient got exactly what they deserved at Boreham Wood after putting in a below-par performance at Meadow Park.

The O’s came into the match full of confidence and with the majority of fans inside the stadium backing the visitors.

But Danny Woodards fired Wood ahead in the 35th minute and Kieran Murtagh made it 2-0 in the 51st minute.

The two goals occurred after mistakes deep inside Orient’s half and their manager held his hands up following the defeat.

Davis said: “Boreham Wood made life difficult for us, but in terms of what we did we didn’t play or pass the ball like we can.

“There were too many of us well below what we expect and if that is the case then you get what you deserve.

“We have had it before and seen it a couple of times and it was the case again today and it is also away from home again.

“We seem to have that in us, so we need to stamp it out and we have a couple of home games to put it right.

“Up to today we had been brilliant and exceptionally good in the last four games and the boys are still very buoyant and positive.

“We are just disappointed we were not able to get a grip of the game and put in a performance worthy of getting anything from it.”

The O’s head coach felt only Jobi McAnuff could come away from the match with any credit after producing a lively display on the left.

A big moment in the contest occurred just before half time when David Mooney played in Macauley Bonne, but the forward curled high and wide.

It was perhaps the only real opportunity Orient created throughout, as they struggled to break down Boreham Wood.

Davis conceded afterwards that his team need to make sure they don’t underestimate any side in the division.

He added: “Maybe there is a danger of complacency. I don’t know if that was it today, but maybe a few have been reading too much about themselves and getting carried away.

“I did say that to them after the game and it is really about what we do out on the pitch and what we do in the training field every day, so that’s the most important thing.

“Forget all the hype and the press and the stuff in the media. It is all about what we do on the pitch and I want us to focus on that.”

Orient are set to be without first-choice centre backs George Elokobi (hamstring) and Josh Coulson (groin) for the visit of Halifax Town on Tuesday night.

After such a disappointing defeat, the O’s will be keen to bounce back and keep up their good form at Brisbane Road.
