Steve Davis happy with Leyton Orient after battle across the border at Wrexham

The O’s fought back twice from a goal down to pick up a point in the National League

Steve Davis was pleased with Leyton Orient’s performance during their 2-2 draw away to Wrexham in the National League on Saturday.
The O’s made a terrible start as they fell behind after a minute when Chris Holroyd headed beyond Charlie Grainger following a cross from the left.
Orient responded when Macauley Bonne’s cross flew into the net midway through the first half.
But Wrexham retook the lead in the second half when Holdroyd poked home after sloppy play by the visitors.

Davis saw his side fight back again, however, with Mark Ellis heading home from a Rommy Boco corner with five minutes left to give O’s a deserved point.
“We kept the crowd very quiet and whenever you go away from home and keep the crowd quiet you know you are on top and dominating possession and the game,” Davis told BBC London.

“In the first half I thought we did that, but in the second it was a little bit different and they made it scrappier, but we’ve come away with a really good point and battled away which it was I expect and what the players want to do.”
After making another poor start, Davis hailed the character of his team up against one of the best sides in the division.
Wrexham’s record in the previous 12 league games before facing Orient was six wins, five draws and one defeat.
Meanwhile, the O’s went into the contest without a victory in the division since September 2 – a run of nine matches.
Yet for long periods of the game, Orient dominated their rivals and showed they can match the best in the National League.
Davis said: “We talked about the first 15 minutes and then after 40-odd seconds it goes out the window, but what I was pleased about was the reaction.
“We didn’t let it phase or bother us and no one showed any fear and they all kept playing their football and kept probing and that was really pleasing.”
Orient sit 19th in the table with 19 points to their name after 18 games in the division, but don’t return to league action until November 11.
