New O’s head coach delighted to see three of his forwards find the net and reveals one of the trialists was winger Josh Taylor

Steve Davis was pleased with Leyton Orient’s first pre-season outing in front of the supporters and declared himself happy with the victory at Harlow Town.

The Hawks took the lead through Junior Dadson, but David Mooney and Tristan Abrahams put O’s 2-1 up at the break.

A Trialist, understood to be winger Josh Taylor, then scored a third for Orient early in the second half.

Taylor was involved again soon after, as he crossed in for Macauley Bonne to head in his first for the club, having signed from Colchester United yesterday.

Bonne grabbed his second 10 minutes from time before Taylor completed his brace to cap an enjoyable day for O’s at Harlow Arena.

“It was a good occasion and nice to see so many fans come and support the team and support everyone involved at the football club,” said Davis.

“It looks like they are going to be behind us from what I have seen today and I think the game was a good work-out and we have got to play games on this surface, so from that point of view it was good.

“It is a little step forward and we have still got a lot of work to do. I have only taken the team for a couple of training sessions, but I am happy with where they are at the moment.”

Davis was delighted to see three of his forwards on target with Mooney, Abrahams and Bonne finding the net at Harlow Arena.

He added: “It is always nice to see strikers scoring in pre-season and it gives them that little bit of confidence going into the next game.

“Macauley has only trained one day, so we have not seen a great deal of him, but he has been doing work with Colchester.

“He is fit and as you can see he is willing to chase and work for the team which is what we want and need at the moment.”

The O’s head coach confirmed Josh Taylor was Trialist B and revealed he’ll get another chance to impress on Tuesday at Burnham Ramblers.

“It is Josh Taylor. I am not bothered how we go ahead with them things. I don’t mind if we call them trialists or reveal who they are,” said Davis.

“With social media people soon know who everyone is and they know who you are going to sign next, so they know before I do sometimes!

“We were having a good bit of banter with Josh and he couldn’t have done any more to impress, so we’ll have another look at him on Tuesday.”

Davis revealed the club were still looking to complete deals for three or four players and hoped to have them finalised by next Saturday.
