The O’s stayed up in Liverpool after facing Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday night and will train at Premier League venue this morning

Leyton Orient head coach Steve Davis praised the support of the club ahead of Saturday’s clash with Barrow after revealing the O’s have given themselves the best possible chance of getting a win.

The east Londoners visited Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday night at Prenton Park in front of the BT Sport cameras, but suffered a 2-1 defeat.

After doing battle with Rovers, Orient now take on Barrow this Saturday, but Davis explained how the club have made life easier for all of the coaching staff and players.

Speaking last weekend, he said: “We are staying up in Liverpool after the Tranmere game.

“We won’t be coming back home until after Saturday’s match with Barrow, so we are trying to give ourselves the best preparation we possibly can.”

Orient have managed to sort out a training facility for Friday as well with the club using their contacts well.

Alex Inglethorpe, Liverpool’s Academy Director, played for the O’s and also coached the youth-team at Brisbane Road in 2004 and it is understood he helped out his old team this week.

Davis added: “We are training at Liverpool’s Academy, so they have allowed us to use their pitch on the Friday.

“We’ll train in the morning and travel up to Barrow after lunch and stay the night then come back after the game.”

By the time Orient return to east London, the squad would have spent four days together and Davis hopes it will help with team bonding after bringing in some more new faces recently.

A positive coming out of the club this week was the news that Dan Happe has signed his first professional contract with O’s.

The 19-year-old has agreed a deal until the end of the 2019/20 season and should be involved again for Orient on Saturday.

Davis will hope to stop O’s rot and pile more misery on the Bluebirds, who have lost four of their last six games in the National League to drop to 20th in the table.

He added: “Spending some time together will be good for the players and the fatigue of travelling down to London after Tranmere and then all the way back up to Barrow would not have been good for anyone.

“It will probably take six-and-a-half hours to come back after Saturday, but it is games we have to play and we have given ourselves the best possible chance of performing well.”
