Steve Davis is determined to see Leyton Orient arrest their slump at home when AFC Fylde visit east London in the National League on Saturday.

The O’s battled back to claim a more than respectable point on the road at Aldershot Town, as they fought from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.

Recent results at Brisbane Road have been poor, however, with a 3-0 defeat to Halifax Town followed up with a 2-1 loss to Hartlepool United, so Orient are desperate to get back their early season form where they picked up 10 points out of a possible 12 in E10 from their first four home fixtures.

Davis said: “We have to bounce back at home and the performances have been good, but we are just conceding sloppy goals, as we did on Saturday, from situations we have got to deal with better.

“Set-pieces have been a problem from the last two games at Brisbane Road and at Aldershot it was more down to errors.

“We are always looking to improve and we watch the games again and sit down and look at what we can do better and that’s what we’ll keep doing, so we can keep on improving the group.”

After 12 games Orient sit in 13th position, but they are only five points off the leaders Sutton United, while only one victory off Dagenham & Redbridge, who occupy the final play-off position – seventh place.

There are plenty of areas where the O’s can improve, but Davis remains optimistic they’ll move up the league soon, especially with three games to be played between now and October 7.

Orient host struggling Fylde before a trip to Tranmere Rovers next Wednesday and another journey up north to visit Barrow on Saturday week.

Davis added: “I am fairly satisfied with the start. You can always do better and there are things I want to be better, but the league is very close and we are not a million miles away from where we want to be.

“We all know we want some success this season. Everybody at the club wants that and I know the supporters do as well.

“We know we can get better and when we get back to full strength, and I have a headache when it comes to picking the team, then hopefully you’ll see the team excel and do what I know they can do because I see it every day.”

A step in the right direction would be beating AFC Fylde on Saturday.
