Storm: c2c trains resume, but Fenchurch Street still shut—trains start at Barking

Commuter services into Fenchurch Street from Essex and East London won’t be running until tomorrow at the earliest, c2c train operators warn.
Overhead cables are down on two sections of the Tilbury-Dagenham Dock route from Southend, while a tree is still blocking the line between Barking and West Ham.
Trains have resumed on the alternative Upminster route to Shoeburyness-Southend, but are only running from Barking.
Passengers for Essex are having to switch this-evening to London Underground’s District and Hammersmith & City lines to reach Barking.
C2c is trying to keep trains running every 15 minutes, but warn the service is still subject to cancellations for the rest of the day. It hopes to have Fenchurch Street opened by the morning.

Engineers are still working on repairing the downed cabled at Dagenham and Purfleet.
Meanwhile, services are slowly resuming on Greater Anglia’s other lines from Liverpool Street.

Trains have started running on the Chingford branch with a limited half-hourly service through Bethnal Green, Cambridge Heath, Hackney and Walthamstow.
A restricted service every 20 minutes also resumed to Shenfield through Stratford and Forest Gate.
But most Greater Anglia services across Essex and the East Coast are still suspended because of this-morning’s storms.
“We have been working with Network Rail to assess the damage to overhead wires and fallen trees,” said a rail spokesman. “Wind speeds in some areas remained too high this-morning for us to start making repairs to the overhead wires.”
