TEACHERS in London’s deprived East End are planning to go on strike.
Staff at St Paul’s Way Community School in Bow Common could stage a six-day walkout over the sacking of special-needs teacher Adrian Swain.
The 50-year-old who was dismissed just before Christmas for breaching a new dress code by wearing trainers in school lost his appeal today (Friday) to be reinstated. He has been teaching in the East End for 17 years.
Members of the National Union of Teachers’ Tower Hamlets branch are now preparing for industrial action to support Adrian, following a ballot they already held last month which depended on today’s outcome. The strike could kick-off on March 16.
