SWAN Housing's plans to develop on green spaces on the Exmouth Estate in Stepney, in the lively debate hosted here on the East London Advertiser website, undeniably proves two facts.
First, Swan's public assurances that "an overwhelming majority of residents approve of their plans" (to build on green space fronting Commercial Road) is hardly the case. More than 300 flats and almost 400 residents of the estate have written letters in protest at these plans.
Second, Swan Housing is clearly out of touch with the wishes all residents.
This is not surprising. With Swan Housing's continued refusal to recognise multicultural and inclusive residents' associations such as the Exmouth Leaseholders' Group, they are effectively ignoring the voices of a large number of residents, if not the majority.
The Leaseholders' Group would like to thank the Advertiser for adding significantly to the public narrative. Well done.
