FASHIONISTAS will try to beat the credit crunch by swapping clothes with strangers.

'Swishers' are being invited to the event in Bethnal Green's Columbia Road next Thursday evening in an attempt to fend off the recession in style and raise money for charity.

Women are being invited to bring five items of good quality, clean items of clothing and accessories to swap with other swishers at the Flea Pit from 7pm.

A £10 donation includes a glass of wine and all proceeds will go towards fundraising for the New York Marathon in support of the National Centre for Young People With Epilepsy.
