The 17-year-old caught the eye for Heybridge Swifts and Leatherhead last season and has agreed a two-year contract with O’s

Leyton Orient have continued their plans for the 2018/19 season by tying down young prospect Ruel Sotiriou to a contract until the summer of 2020.

The teenage forward impressed for the academy and first-team during the past campaign and has now signed his first professional deal with the O’s.

Sotiriou made his Orient debut during the FA Cup fourth qualifying round clash away to Dagenham & Redbridge on October 14 and went on to make his league debut a week later.

He appeared during National League games with Macclesfield Town, Gateshead and Torquay United before he enjoyed a successful loan spell with Heybridge Swifts.

After impressing in the Bostik North, Sotiriou jumped up a level and linked up with Sammy Moore at Leatherhead and the striker again showed his potential with a goal on his debut at Hendon.

Following an encouraging spell with the Tanners, the talented attacker returned to Brisbane Road and helped Peter Gill’s under-18s clinch the EFL Youth Alliance Merit Division 2 title.

Having impressed Gill, Danny Webb, Justin Edinburgh and Ross Embleton over the past season, Sotiriou has now agreed a two-year deal with O’s much to the delight of director of football Martin Ling.

The youngster told the official club website: “I’m buzzing to get a new contract, I’ve been at the club for four years now and I’m pleased to have pushed on and got my first professional contract.

“I’m aiming to get more minutes under my belt next season and score goals for this football club. The gaffer is very demanding and great to work under, so I’m looking forward to learning lots from him.”
