Tax avoidance debate to be held in Spitalfields
The morality of tax dodging will be debated by a prestigious panel at a special event in the East End next week.
Organised by Christian Aid, the event will be held at Christ Church Spitalfields and is part of the Tax Justice Bus Tour currently travelling the UK. The bus is to make 100 stops in locations up and down the country, and aims to raise awarenesss of the issue of tax dodging, which Christian Aid claim costs developing countries as much as $160bn a year.
The debate is to be chaired by Canon Dr Giles Fraser, priest at St Paul’s Cathedral. The rest of the panel includes journalist and political commentator Peter Oborne, and Stephanie Lis of the Institute of Economic Affairs.
Doors will open at Spitalfields Church at 6.30pm on Thursday September 13, and the debate is free to attend.
