An annual beach volleyball competition is being held at Canary Wharf after 160 tonnes of sand was brought in to create a beach along the waterfront.

Team GB and Action For Kids have teamed up the fifth Beach Volleyball Championships at Wood Wharf to create volleyball courts.

The event, which finishes on Sunday (July 28), allows people to have a go themselves by entering a team into the Championships or take part in ‘volleybody’ workout classes.

Olympians Shauna Mullin and Zara Dampney, and Paralympic GB Sitting Volleyball Captain Rob Richardson are among those showing off their skills in exhibition matches while qualified coaches provide coaching.

In return for pledging to raise £2,500 for Action for Kids, teams of five to 12 people are guaranteed at least four games of beach volleyball, two hours of coaching from qualified Volleyball England coaches along with other perks.
