Gavin Massey one of many Leyton Orient players absent for today’s match due to injury

Leyton Orient are without several players for their League Two clash at Cambridge United this weekend due to injury and suspension.

The club revealed on Tuesday that Gavin Massey was unlikely to play again in April due to a hamstring problem.

And it appears likely the ex-Colchester United winger has made his final appearance of the campaign and potentially for O’s.

Tom Parkes is also unavailable due to his red card last weekend and will miss the next three games for Orient.

With the former Bristol Rovers captain suspended, boss Omer Riza may give young Michael Clark another opportunity in defence.

Yvan Erichot is likely to miss out again with a pelvic issue, so Aron Pollock should be back in the matchday squad.

Riza will make a decision on whether Clark or Pollock partners Nicky Hunt and Teddy Mezague today or both youngster may start.

Myles Judd remains absent with a back problem, although Nigel Atangana has a slight chance of returning following a groin issue.

Charlie Grainger and Alex Cisak have both been sidelined of late with the same injury as Atangana, but the former may be on the bench at Abbey Stadium.

Riza is still without Sammy Moore (knee) and Robbie Weir (ACL), but Orient’s top goalscorer Paul McCallum is slowly working his way back to full fitness.

O’s could stick with the 3-5-2 formation against Cambridge despite having several players absent and will be hoping to end their run of five consecutive defeats.

Although Orient are without several experienced members of their squad, the likes of Liam Kelly, Michael Collins and Callum Kennedy are expected to start today.

Despite O’s being bottom and in terrible form with players and staff still waiting for their wages, U’s manager Shaun Derry is not taking them lightly.

He said: “I know Omer and that he has a good connection with this club, so I know he’ll be coming with his side to show their fight.

“We’ll be taking Leyton Orient very seriously, because they deserve our respect and our job is to be professional.

“They are a wounded animal but that makes them all the more dangerous. We expect a tough game.”
