Forward Paul McCallum a doubt for League Two opener at Brisbane Road

Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon may hand a competitive full debut to Ollie Palmer today (Saturday) with Paul McCallum a doubt.

McCallum, who signed a two-year deal this summer after being released from West Ham United, has scored six times in pre-season.

However, he picked up an ankle injury against Southend United last Sunday and has been suffering with tonsillitis. That has forced him to miss training for most of the week and he could sit this one out.

But fortunately for Orient that appears their only injury concern and Palmer, with five goals himself this summer, will be more than ready to fill the void if needed.

Alex Cisak is expected to be in goal following his permanent transfer from Burnley and new captain Mathieu Baudry will likely be partnered by Connor Essam in the heart of the O’s defence with Alan Dunne still getting up to speed - fitness wise.

New full backs Sean Clohessy and Frazer Shaw will make their competitive full debuts for the club and Lloyd James, Sammy Moore, Bradley Pritchard and Dean Cox will line up in midfield with Simpson up top alongside Palmer.

Orient supporters will be pleased to know Kevin Lisbie won’t be against his former club as he is struggling with a hamstring injury, while Shaun Batt is only expected to play the final 30 minutes at Brisbane Road according to Bees boss Martin Allen.

It should be a brilliant atmosphere at Brisbane Road and Hendon will hope he can start his reign with a victory against his old club Barnet.
