Chefs put on their running shoes and tried to batter their way into the lead today during the annual Great Spitalfields Pancake Race.
Hundreds turned out to watch competitors take each other on in a hotly contested race in Dray Walk, off Brick Lane.
Teams of four turned up with their own frying pans to race along the route while flipping their concoctions.
Heats started from 12.30, before the serious competition got underway later.
Winners were fittingly presented with an engraved frying pan to mark their achievements.
There were also prizes for runners-up, the best-behaved team and the best-dressed team.
