A TEENAGE boy was killed riding his bike in a night-time collision with a police car on a 999 call in East London at the weekend.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the accident at Ron Leighton Way in East Ham at 12.30am on Saturday.
Khaleel Rehman, a 16-year-old from East Ham, died at the scene at a pedestrian crossing that leads to Wakefield Street.
The marked Vauxhall Astra patrol car in collision with his bike was answering an emergency call, Scotland Yard confirmed today (Monday).
A post-mortem at East Ham mortuary gave cause of death as a severe fracture of the neck at the base of the skull. An inquest opens in East London tomorrow (June 2).
The Directorate of Professional Standards is investigating the incident and are urging witnesses who were in Ron Leighton Way that night to contact them on 020-8785 8738.
