A teenage singer has taken to the mic to pay tribute to everyone who made the Olympics such a success story for east London this summer.
Shakila Karim, 15, recorded ‘Thank You For The Sunshine’ to cap off a feel-good year for the East End as it hosted the ‘greatest show on earth’.
Having been born in Whitechapel, Shakila said she wanted to recreate the happiness the Olympics brought to the lives of people across the country over the summer.
“I’ll never forget seeing so many smiling faces during that time”, she said. “It really was a special summer to remember.
“This song is dedicated to everyone who did a fantastic job to make all this happen. I hope my new song will remind young people of the joys of being at the Olympics and inspire them to work hard to be future Olympians.”
