Tenants evacuated as firefighters tackle Limehouse fire

Tenants were evacuated after firefighters were called to a studio office in Limehouse this afternoon when rubbish in a lift was set on fire.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters attended the incident at Cable Street Studios, Butcher Row, at 3.45pm and the fire was brought under control by 4.37pm.

The fire which started in the lift shaft on the ground floor had sent smoke through the building.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the fire brigade.
