COUNCIL tenants in London’s deprived East End are to tell their social landlords exactly what they think of them.
Families on housing estates, many in urgent need of repair after years of neglect, have been invited to Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall on Saturday week (Oct 3).
The local authority’s housing management wing, Tower Hamlets Homes, wants tenants to look back on the past 12 months since the organisation was set up and say what they think should happen next to bring better living conditions.
“We want residents to join us in making our plans happen,” said the organisation’s Chief Executive Gavin Cansfield. “That’s why we’re asking their opinions on what they think we should be focussing on next.”
But he assured: “This is not just a talk’ fest. The idea is that it’s hands-on, involving joint problem-solving and ending with a clear to do’ list.”
The event on October 3 from 11am to 3.30pm also includes workshops on how to tackling yob behaviour on estates and how to improve the home.
Bur tenants have to book places online, call 020-7364 0718 or freephone 0800-783 6845.
