COPS have been sending text messages to passengers on the East End's notorious number 25 bus, warning them to be vigilant against pickpockets.

Officers and police community support officers have been sending texts via Bluetooth to passengers along the 25 route, which goes along Bow Road, Mile End Road, Whitechapel Road and Whitechapel High Street to raise awareness of pick pockets on the buses.

The message is received by everyone who has Bluetooth enabled on their mobile phone.

The team is led by Sgt Joanne Black who said: "This is a pro-active operation involving up to 45 uniform and plains clothes officers. We are keen to promote a safe environment on the bus routes that run through our borough.
