Dear Editor,
I JUST wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff and customers of Barclay’s Bank in East London for raising such a phenomenal amount of money since the launch of their campaign to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
The branches in the London boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham raised £100,000 to fund a lead chemotherapy nurse for the area.
Around 3,000 bank staff have been involved in all sorts of fundraising, from high street space hopper races to sky dives, dress down’ days—and of course our flagship event, the world’s biggest coffee morning.
It is helping us improve the lives of people affected by cancer. We hope to reach £160,000 by the end of the year to pay for a lead chemotherapy nurse in East London.
Branches taking part were at Bethnal Green, Bow, Mile End, Roman Road, Queen Mary’s college at Mile End, Poplar, Hackney, Kingsland, Stratford, Forest Gate, Upton Park, East Ham and Leytonstone.
