THE stage is set as these youngsters grab the limelight at London's world-renowned Wilton's music hall.

They trod the boards in a gala performance of the musical Ellie, which brought down the house to rapturous applause at the East End venue last Wednesday.

The musical shows the devastating effect war has on children. It is set in a fictional war-torn country and centres on the adventures of Ellie and her friend 'the child.'

The parts are played by 'kids on the block.' The young actors are members of Pollyanna, a theatre school in Wapping just down the road from the theatre.

The school gets Town Hall cash from Tower Hamlets so the kids can have a rare chance to show their talents on stage to the public. It's a rare moment when this often-forgotten corner of the East End gets the spotlight.
