POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a bogus caller stole �200 from a pensioner's home.
The 79-year-old pensioner fell victim when she answered her door to a woman claiming to be a carer around 11.45am last Thursday.
The suspect chatted to the victim in the flat off Burdett Road in Limehouse before asking to use the toilet then making her excuses and leaving.
Once she had left the pensioner realised her purse, containing around �200 in cash, was missing.
Police have described the thief as a white woman, around 30, wearing blue jeans with a pattern on the bottom, a light blue linen jacket, dangly earrings, a blue or black and white striped scarf. She had shoulder length fair hair and spoke with an East End accent.
