A 90-YEAR-OLD man was robbed of cash and his bank book as he got in a lift in a block of flats in Bethnal Green.

The pensioner was in the lift in Kenton House, Mantus Close in Bethnal Green between 9.30 and 10.30am on Friday last week when two people joined him.

A woman stood in the doorway of the lift, holding its doors open, while a man thrust a map in his face and asked directions.

The victim told police that he felt the woman brush against him and once they had gone he realised that his cash and bank book were missing from his coat pocket.

Police have described the suspects as a white man, aged 20-30, wearing a multi-coloured, long-sleeved top, and a woman aged 20-30, wearing a white dress.
